1. When and Start Dates?
- Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, 2008
- Public Gates open at 11.00 am on Saturday and Sunday
- Competitors required to be in the competitors paddock by no later than 10.00 am on Saturday and 9.00 am on Sunday

2. Where and Travel Times?
- St. Arnaud Aerodrome, Wimmera Highway, St. Arnuud approximately 5 kms out of St. Arnaud on the Wimmera Highway heading to Horsham from St. Arnaud
- Melbourne to St. Arnaud - 2 hrs 45 mins from Westgate Bridge. From Melbourne, take highway to Ballarat then to Avoca then to St. Arnaud
- Horsham to St. Arnaud - 1 hr
- Bendigo to St. Arnaud - 1 hr
- Ballarat to St. Arnaud - 1 hr 30 mins
- Swan Hill to St. Arnaud - 1 hr 30 mins

3. Do I need a special Licence?
Yes, you need the normal VicRoads Drivers Licence and CAMS S2 Licence. The Licence is available to downloand on the webpage if you do not already have one. The Cost of the Licence is $85.00 and is valid for 12 months. A Temporary Level S2 CAMS Licence will be available on the day for $42.00. If you are not a member of a CAMS Car Club, then put in St. Arnaud Quarter Mile Car Club. When you send in your Application to compete, you will automatically become a member of the St. Arnaud Quarter Mile Car Club for the Event.

4. What specifications or special requirements to I need for my car?
It needs to be road registered or on club plates and be in a roadworthy condition or have a CAMS Log Book and comply with the Event Regulations (refer to entry form)

5. Do I need to do anything to my car?
- Make sure it is roadworthy (it must pass scrutineering)
- It must have a fire extinguisher of at least 900 grams capacity and comply with Australian Standard 1841. It must be properly fitted to the car (bolted in) and be capable of removal by the Driver. It must have a metal cradle not a plastic one, you can get them for about $30.00 at auto and hardware shops
- You must have a blue triangle of 70mms located on the body work to indicate the location of the battery
- You must have a number of your car placed on the door or window to identify the driver of your car. It must be on the right hand side and if there are two drivers for the one car the numbers must be changed with the change of driver. It is ok to sticky tape the driver number to the side window if you want. At registration, we will provide you with a number if you do not have one.
- Your car must otherwise comply with the Event Regulations (refer to entry Form)

6. Is that all I need to do my car?
Yes, provided that your car otherwise complies with the CAMS Regulations.

7. Do I need a Helmet?
Yes, it must comply with the following standards and be in good condition:-
- Australian Standard 1698
- US Snell SA95, SA2000, SA2005
- Otherwise check with the CAMS Manual

8. Do I need a race driving suit?
It is a good idea if you have one but it is not necessary. You will need long sleeve shirt and pants with shoes all of a non-flammable material.

9. Where do I get an Entry Form?

- You must complete it and send it to us at the Address stated with all the details completed with a cheque by no later than 10th September 2008. Entries received prior to this date will receive a $5.00 discount. Late entries will be permitted on the day and cars will be limited to 150 so to avoid disappointment on the Day, book early.

10. How much does it cost?
- $75.00 for 1 day, $105.00 for 2 days. $75.00 for a Second Driver for either 1 or 2 days if you enter prior to 5 September 2008. There will be a further fee of $5.00 for late entries received on the day. You will need a CAMS Licence as well see Question 3 and entry form
- Public Entry Cost is $15.00 per head each day with children under 16yrs free

11. How many timed runs do I get?
We are looking at up to 2 practice runs and 4 timed runs on Saturday and 6 timed runs on Sunday. Last event there was 10 runs on the Saturday and 10 runs on the Sunday.

12. When do entries close?
Entries should be received by 10 September 2008, although entries on the day will be allowed, subject to the course limited of 150 cars so book early to avoid disappointment.

13. Can I apply to compete on the Saturday or Sunday?
Yes, provided you make it for scruitineering.

14. When will I know my entry has been accepted?
We will contact you by fax or email within a few days after the entries closing.
|
15. Where can I stay?
Look at the Accommodation Guide under www.starnaud.net.au web page and book in early to get a room. Accommodation is limited. One of our Sponsors is St. Arnaud Motel and their number is (03) 5495 1755. Alternatively you can contact the Visitor Information Centre on (03) 5495 1268.

16. I have never gone in a speed event before, this is my first time. What happens?
- No problems. Before you start, there will be a drivers briefing and we will explain to you what is involved.
- We will allow 2 practice runs on Saturday to make sure that you and your car will be ok at speed
|
17. What is the track distance?
400 metres with a 500 metres slow down distance with safety barriers at the end. Cars will run side by side in your Class
|
18. What is a super sprint?
The airstrip is wide enough to run 2 cars down the airstrip at a time. You are racing the clock not each other.

19. Will I get to know my timed runs?
Yes. They will be published by the timekeeper and made available for drivers at the end of each run.
|
20. Can I do a burnout at the start?
No static burnouts are allowed.
|
21. Do I get a warm-up start to get some heat into my tyres?
No. As soon as the green light goes on, your off until your next run.
|
22. Can I put more than 1 car in to drive?
No multiple entries will be allowed, but you are allowed 2 drivers per car, but no extra runs will be provided to the driver. If there are 10 runs on the day and each driver shares the run then they will get 5 runs each.

23. When do I have to get there on the day?
- Competitors should arrive definitely before 10.00 am on Saturday and 9.00 am on Sunday so that you can register and have your car go through scrutiny
- It is preferable to come to St. Arnaud on the Friday night if you are traveling from a long distance.

24. Do I book in anywhere when I get there?
- Yes. Competitors must report to the scrutineering building located on the Airstrip next to the competitors paddock as soon as you arrive.
- Scrutineering will start at 9.00 am sharp on Saturday and continuing for 2 hours and for 1 hour on Sunday and you will need your CAMS Licence
- You must pass scrutineering and attend the drivers briefing.

25. What safety equipment will be present at the airstrip?
- Track Marshalls will have fire extinguishers
- Country Fire Authority Tanker will be in attendance
- SES will also be in attendance
- We will also have a private Ambulance with 2 trained Ambulance Officers present
- There will be a Doctor on call if required via the local Hospital
- The Course Car will contain safety equipment
- There will be tow truck present if you car breaks down
Your safety and the public’s safety is very important to us.

26. Do you have insurance for the Event?
- This Event will be covered for both days by CAMS with a Public Liability per event up to $100,000,000.00.
- You will also have automatic cover when you receive your CAMS Licence and pay your CAMS Licence Fee.

27. Will alcohol be allowed at the Event?
- No. This is a dry event. Any competitor or member of the public drinking alcohol or having alcohol or bringing alcohol will be asked not to consume alcohol.
- Competitors may be randomly breath-tested during the event

28. Will I be allowed to fuel up on the course or in the competitors paddock?
No. You will need to fuel up before you get to the track.

29. Will I get a trophy?
- Yes, if you are the fastest in your class/category.
- The fastest Car of the Day and Lady of the event will also receive a separate trophy
- You must be in attendance to receive the trophy at the presentation on the Sunday. We will not send them to you
- At the last run of the day there will be a reverse grid run and then a Top 6 Shoot-out
- Fastest times will be for the whole weekend and include practice runs.

30. Will there be any cash prizes?
No, but there will be a new set of tyres as a prize to the fastest car donated by St.Arnaud Tyre Service.

31. Will there be food and drinks available?
Yes, the event will be fully catered but remember that no alcohol will be served or permitted on the course.

32. Can I put my motorbike in?
No. This is a car event only.
|
33. Where do all the funds raised go to?
All surplus funds will go to the St. Arnaud Hospital Foundation which is a very worthwhile charity.

34. Will this event be run each year?
Yes on the second weekend in September so diarise this event each year its good fun.

35. Will there be any other entertainment on the Saturday night?
Yes the St.Arnaud Sporting Club will host a Rock n' Roll band on Saturday night called the love Crystals.
